NUMBER 1 MISTAKE...disconnecting the battery from a running engine with an alternator...kills diodes, almost instantly. Old farmer types around here still do this and wonder what happened with all the smoke from the alternator...this isn't a '48 John Deere... If you had fuel dripping out the pipes, then you have flooded the engine. Happened to me before I replaced the battery a couple of times...only real cure is replacing the plugs. Remove all 4 and crank the engine with them out and the throttle wide open. This will dry out the liquid fuel in the cylinders. Don't be surprised if you see fuel spray out. Replace the plugs and start it normally. The plugs you removed will dry out eventually, but they will need to be cleaned. Unleaded fuel does not act like the stuff we used to use. Check the charging voltage with a good meter. Mine usually sits at 14.8 at idle.

Does your bike have a fuel processor, like say, a Cobra or Power Commander? I had a similar issue with mine about 2 years ago, had to phone the company and get them to go through my laptop (which I had plugged int the processor) and he fixed the issue in about 2 minutes or so. (Mine is a Power Commander PCIII) Troll is likely your best source (or Greenbarn for that matter) for this problem. Good luck with it and keep us posted.

Thought I would ask here.  Here's the scenario of what happened and now I'm stumped.
Went to crank the bike on Friday after work (been running great for the past 3 months no issues) and dead battery.  The battery was replaced 3 months ago and was brand new.  Bought a new battery, fired right up and drove it home.  I figured my stator/regulator was bad so I let it sit the night and would check in the morning.

Sat morn it fired right up so I pulled the negative side of the battery to see if the bike would keep running and it died instantly.  Re-connected the neg and it fired up.  So I decided to get a volt meter and check when I got home from work.  When I got home that afternoon I noticed I had left the kill switch in the on position and the key in the ignition but in the off position.  Went to fire it up - it would crank but not start.  It sputtered a few times so I gave some throttle and realized there was gas dripping from the muffler.  I tried to start a few more times and gas continued to drip out the muffler so I stopped.  Put the battery on charge for the eve and would try again on Sun.

Sun morn put the batt back on it would crank but not fire.  I got it to sputter for about 2 seconds and that was it.  Now it seemed there was no gas getting to the engine.  So over the past few days and tests here's my findings:

I have spark - It will fire with starter fluid in the air intake.
The fuel pump is pumping fuel and I hear it turn on when I power the bike and when I hit the start button
Fuel is clean and makes it to the injectors.
The injectors are not spraying fuel.
The ECU shows no errors and the FI light comes on for 2 sec and disappears when I power the bike.
If I unplug the fuel pump it reads error 45.
If I unplug the the other sensors or fuel injectors the error still reads 45.

Does anyone have any insight or same issues that were resolved.  Is this bad fuel pressure, injectors, ECU?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thx,
Dan
