Possibly the filter in the tank on the petcock got something on it, or something in the 'normal' side of the petcock? Sounds odd. Were you able to run on the 'tank' position after filling up? Pr did it still have to be on reserve?

Weirdest thing happened.  I was on the way to Columbus last night to visit my Mother-in-law.  I took the interstate to make better time, which I seldom do.  After traveling about 13-14 miles at about 70-75 (faster than I usually ride) the bike "ran out of gas" so I instinctively switched to reserve.  As soon as the petcock hit prime, it took off again, good to go.   Problem is, I only had about 70 miles on that tank, and it only took a gallon and a half to fill it up.  So how did it "run out of gas"?

Does anybody know of any common issues with fuel restrictions on these?    Obviously I'll have to keep an eye on it.  It didn't do anything the rest of the day, but I wasn't pushing it that hard again - went home on 2-lanes.
I can't believe I was using fuel faster than the petcock could deliver?

btw, this was a new oem petcock this winter.
