I see now, the brackets are so rusty they just gave out. I do love that guy's paint scheme. Super different and it works. Too bad about the brackets.

Glad he didn't buy the bike with a flat tire. I was embarrassed to ride mine home with the stock paint scheme. I felt like an Indian fraud. Plus I'm about to tump the thing over at every stop. I guess I was a fraud ;D

Troll

Yeah, it's bent. The owner said it was that way when he bought the bike. That would have made me CRAZY 'till I straightened it. The bags wobble terribly when you are riding. He wasn't the only one with the Osprey bags, and they all flapped in the breeze like a pair of flags. They need some kind of stabilizing bridge between them. The bags, themselves are very nice, but the mounting needs a complete re-engineering.  I'm thinking the stock aluminum mounts would accept the Osprey bags with minimal modification.

I had a chance, and I took advantage of it, to look closely at 25 other Drifters this past weekend. Just in the category of windshield mounts, no two were the same. Most of the owners said they were fire and steel mounts, but some were under the top tree, some were above it, some under the headlight...I never saw one like what was on my bike when I bought it. I didn't expect to see any like I have now, since mine are adapted from a Nomad...and then there is the variety of saddlebags...and speaking of that... the Osprey bags are very nice, but the mounts are junk. Crooked, wobbly and FUGLY!

Did somebody lay it over? Why is the one all bent up like that? Looks like some of my botched work.

Elephant ears....I had a different part of the anatomy in mind. They look good from the side, though.

NOOOOOO!    Don't even plant that thought in his head or we'll see a certain pic again that will leave a lasting effect.  I'm still in therapy.   ;)

I'm still working on the look, I've pitched the Arlen Ness loud cowboy boots and ordered the Doc Martin 8761. All this work is killing me.

Those are pretty cool.  You can't go wrong with those.  I just wear generic SWAT team boots.

Saw Manson and Zombie last year.  Great show!!!!

Troll

I saw that. One of the guys at Drift in has 3, a j and 2 Rs...he's from Oz...

Troll, not sure about the Aussie's bikes owned, refer my post on how many drifters by Chief, I got a response from Kawa Aus re how many were sold in Aus, basically all 1999's and 1 2000. Only about 50 sold all up.

Man of few words.

Great looking ride, and it goes well with the Rob Zombie look.   8)

That's nice of you to say. But you know what they say anyways, it's not the bike, it's the rider!

I met a guy at the Drift in from Australia who owns 3 1500s...2 Rs and a J....

Got to agree with Troll about the looks of the bikes, post a pic of a group of Harleys and they look alike albeit post a picture from Driftin 13 and all the drifters look like Drifters and the same, but then post a mixed bag of bikes and you can pick out Harleys because they all look alike and sound alike and have the same chrome parts. How many members do we have here and no 2 rides are the same.

It's nice to see members of the younger generation maintaining the Drifter blood line.

Maybe I'm a little biased, but I think yours is GREAT...and his looks like every other bike on the road...or in front of a bar.

It's a mini biker build-off between my buddies Harley and whatever I could conjure up. I chose a Drifter. That's his Harley all monkeyed and chromed up and painted from the factory. You get the picture? He goes chrome I go blacked out, he goes two toned I go single color, he goes bright I go crap brown. He goes touring and comfort I go bare knuckles, little tiny goggles, shirt on my back. Forget the difference in price. The competition can only be eyes on at the biker joint right? How can he step to this? I'm not quite done yet either.
