Help...suddenly without lights

Nono. 196W is total consumption when i drive at night with the long lights on....Through the 10a fuse, at this pointm only 60w (stock light) + 2 x 55w (additional lights) will flow (170w). The other light use their correpondent fuses.

Here's an issue, though.  If I understand you, all of these lights go through the 10A fuse?  If it's 196 watts, that's too much for a 10a fuse.  The equation is W=VA, so 200 watts at 12 volts (battery voltage) would draw approx 16.7 amps.  That is probably what blew your fuse.  You would want to run a 20A fuse for that draw.  HOWEVER, as others have said, the wiring is meant to support 10A, so you SHOULD run an additional wire for the additional lights.

Ok first the 10a fuse is there for a reason, the wiring to the lights is only capable of carrying 10 amps..take the 39a or whatever fuse you put in and replace it with a 10a fuse..Then disconnect the new lights from the circuit and replace them with a relay..just wire the coil circuit of the relay in place of the new lights..then wire from the positive side of the battery through an in line fuse '10a should be enough' to one side of the relay contacts and from the other side of the relay contact to one side of the new lights. then run a new wire from the other side of the lights to either the frame or the negative side of the battery.

Now your fuse, lights and loom will all be safe..

 the 30Amp fuse  spare is a spare for the main fuse. All the rest are 10 amp fuses so really you only have one spare. When I added my spotlights I added a in line fuse of 15 amps and the wired it in. and have all the original 10 amps fuses. But over the winter I replaced all the fuses because I did not know how old or what they had been through. I carry a small container with a few extras in my right side case.

This is probably going to be ok for the short run, but you shouldn't leave it like that. Find out what blew the fuse and replace the 10 with a 10. If they connected the power for the aux. lights directly to the high beam for power, that's not good, either. It should be on it's own circuit, preferably with a relay.

Problem solved. I opened the fuse box, and fuse numer 5 was burnedout. The bike had its original two spare fuses, the 10a and the 30a. But...why a 30a sparefuse, if all the priginal fuses are of 10a? Probably for the case youinstall a accesory. So, this time, and after having checked that the new lights are linked to the standard long lights, i changed the fuse from 10a to 39 a. Dou you see any problem with this ?

Good idea. To get to the fuses....shall y dismount the seat first, and then look after them in theor box. I will exchange fuse 2 with 5, and see if it works. I'm worried although if its not that, the problem...

you might be able to move the horn or another fuse not needed to the light fuse, I always carry a few spares, so this is never an issue. Be interested in how they wired in your additional lights. perhaps you can just disconnect them? Run jus the normal lights.

I suspect the additional lights added are causing the problem. Headlight is on a separate circuit.

I on holidays in the coast of cadiz. I was returning from a bar today at 1am, and suddenly my Short lights and long lights went off. Only my position lights and my fender indian allowed me to see a coulple om meters ahead, covering the 6 miles to my hotel quite slowly.
It's strange but it looks like it hass been a bad work from my local garage after installing me my additional lights. I'm not sure if they istalled a resistance with them.
I hope that the electrical system is ok, and that only the fuse has burned out...it's the same fuse of shorts and long lights? If it's only that problem...and tomorrow it's saturtay and no garage will be open, how can i substitute that fuse? Is it a common fuse, or is it special?
Help...my holidays are in danger....
