I did a helmet mount the other day... switched the camera to 4 different places. The helmet mount was clear, but every time I moved my head...and I move it a lot..I'll stick to the new center mount....I want to capture the ride, not my head turning.

   I like that one but you now need to mount one on your helmet and allow us a chance to see what traffic is coming or not....lol I kept trying to look and could not......

Ok...thanks for the input and the patience with me. My Father was a perfectionist, and I have inherited at least some of his tendencies. I have made up my mind, and here is a sample of the result. Remember, what you see is a flash conversion... the actual video is 1080I...HD TV! I have reworked my center mount, and put some stiff rubber bumpers between the windshield bracket and the upper triple clamp...and I found that damn buzz! I removed the sealing ring from the back door of the camera housing....the sound track is what's playing on my stereo, not added on. You can really hear the rumble of the exhaust  as I accelerate.

Now all I need to do is have patience and wait for the trip to the DRAGON!!!

I tried that location, and it's too buzzy for what I want. I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with what I have done, now. I got 2 big rubber bottle stoppers and put them between the upper tree and the windshield mount and that made a world of difference. I relocated the stick on mount higher on the windshield frame and I am using a much shorter arm to connect the camera.. VERY rigid. I have a soft pad attached to the windshield frame that the camera rests against, so it further damps out vibration...Tested it again, today, and I'm pretty happy with it. Not cinema quality, but it doesn't look like jello on a vibrator, either...

My big decision point is the spot with the least vibration/jello effect. I've been trying lots of different places and I made a mod to my center windshield set up that came out very well. The second best seems to be the clutch cyl mount.

Troll... Having rode the "Dragon" and also owning a GoPro I would suggest that you mount the camera where you will pick up the most lean... Crash Bar (Engine Guard) tends to give you a flatter angle... If you can find a location where when you turn the forks or steer into a turn it will definitely give you a better perspective.

  Mr. GreenBarn Sir, being a business owner and a man in good standing in your community I do not understand why you do not fund this project on your own and use it as a business write off towards education and film making. I am trying to get all my hard earned part time pay salted away so once I am forced out to pasture on my very small pension from the 90's I'll be able to afford my house and my vehicles.

I'm kinda leaning toward the clutch cyl mount, or if I can adjust the brake master a bit, the r/s mount. The center mount was ok, but it picked up a lot of vibration...I still have some time. Google earth has the trip from Helen to Deals Gap at about 90 miles, so it's going to be a must do. Since it's going to be part of Drift In, I won't be going alone, nor will excessive speeds (probably) be an issue. I bought a battery package with 2 4 hour batteries and a plug in charger for $20...about what GoPro wants for just a battery.

personally, I like to see the driver's pov.  Didn't you previously have a front-and-center mount?

I like the low view for dramatic effect, but , for me, it's  lower than I like it for the whole vid.  I like the brake cover mount better.

You know, what would be REALLY great, is to mount 2 or 3 cameras, let them all roll during the ride, then you could have a LOT of options when you edit.

If Ratman would release his purse strings a little, and let go of some of that moldy money of his, he'd kick in a bit and buy you an extra.  If I had a gopro, I'd loan it for this project.

That looks really good, but I want a camera that I can run from a bike battery from a cigarette lighter socket, I have fitted a windshield so I don't really have a place to fit my camera at the front and my saddlebags restrict the back unless I want to film where I've come from instead of where I'm going, my camera will film for four hours at a time if I can find somewhere to mount it or a long enough power lead..

I'm looking forward to the film from the dragon and would like to know how far the run is, google shows it to be quite a long road but I'm not sure how much of it is called the dragon..

Watch out for the police, I understand they are enforcing speed limits on some days.

I looked carefully at the itinerary for DriftIn, and on Friday, the group is going to ride the Dragon's Tail. I've been wanting to get out there to do this for several years, so now I will be getting my wish granted. You guys (generic) have suffered through the GoPro mount evolution, so I want your opinion about which set up I should use to record the Dragon. Here is a quick clip I did today with the camera mounted on the engine guard bar...The traffic circle was on the right side brake M/Cyl.
