crankcase vent Question: To Tee or not to Tee

I mounted mine solid, used the c-case hose that went to the air filter backing plate to hook it to. Got no mess from it until it would "load up" with oil, then took it off, washed out let it dry, and back on again. They have a washable filter inside the housing.

49, did you just run a hose direct to the breather??  Did you have trouble with it making much of a mess??

I noticed even the stock system had oil issues, once I took it all apart, there was significant oil residue in various places in/under/behind the air cleaner.

 ran a similar one to that on one of my Harleys; it worked quite well; once in a while I would have to wash it out and let it dry, then put it back on.

Ok, as part of my "grampsizing"  mod I'm doing on the 800, I'm installing an aftermarket crankcase vent, the one in the attached pic. (grampsizing link

Does anyone currently have an aftermarket vent installed?   My question pertains to 1) oil mist out of the vent, and the mess caused by it, and 2) how to minimize it.

Does anyone know if I'll have an issue with oil mist coming out of the vent making a mess, or if this is really an issue??

I have a couple options in mind to deal with potential oil spray:

1-  building an "oil trap", (outlined on page 18 of the grampsizing pdf, basically a wadded up scotch bright in a piece of 3/4" hose)

2- retaining the original drop-tube from the old crank vent line, going to the "milk bottle".  This bottle is clear down by the frame, and collects extra oil, and must be emptied occasionally.

3) combination of 1 and 2

I don't want oil spray all over if I can help it, but I don't want to complicate the install if I don't need to.   Any thoughts?  Looking for some experience here hopefully.  The vent system I took out was full of oil, but had probably never been cleaned.
