According to FBI statistics, over the last 4 years more murders were committed with a hammer then with guns.  We should be banning hammers!  ;D

So I guess suspenders, neck ties, belts, and bras will be on their way out too.....suspenders, belts, and neckties could feasibly (if you are a politician) be considered a weapon with which to strangle someone............and some bras, (please forgive me here ladies, my fingers know not what they type)some bras, could be used as slingshots of lethal caliber...... ::) and (uh-oh) so could rolling pins wielded  OW! by OW! housewives whose husbands' OW! fingers know OW! not what they OW!-OW! OW! type!! ;D

It was my understanding UK was/is considering banning GLASSES in pubs... moving to plastic cups... because GLASS can be used as a weapon. It sounds like the UK has more than its fair share of Bloombergs and Piers Morgans!!

OH radar detectors......another cool one, some provinces allow them, others do not,but you can sell them and buy themn in Ontario but do not use them, huge fine if you are caught using.........ok tin foil hat and pants come into effect again......

GPS is not to get you THERE but rather to get you home from THERE

I think Ohio has similar fireworks laws. You can buy and sell, but you can't set them off. But, they don't usually care.

pcarrell

When I was younger I lived in Connecticut for a while.  Don't know if it's still like this, but back then it was legal to buy or sell a radar detector, but it wasn't legal to own one.  That's a tricky one!

we also have bans on fireworks, for the most part of the year but it is not really enforced.

I'll not get into all the "laws" about riding your snowmachine that are coming are in effect....

And when they have finally idiot proofed the world, only idiots will be left........it will be like the entire world is inhabited by politicians...... :o

It's getting beyond crazy..we are not allowed to buy or sell a sheath knife with a blade longer than 4" but we can buy or sell an axe, a 10" kitchen knife and a kitchen cleaver..

The latest thing they have banned are those paper chinese lanterns that you set fire to and let them float away because they could set fire to something when they return to earth.

Fireworks are only sold to over 18 year olds and only for the week before November 5th Guy Faulks night, or what we now call fireworks night.

I think each time another member of parliament gets elected they think up another crazy law so that when they get voted out they can say "that was my idea."

On an international flight security took my friend's nailclippers out of her purse, then shortly after boarding she was severed a meal which had a metal knife and fork included???

JH: I remember going into Italy via motorcycle and getting stopped at the border, 3 of us had to remove our buck knives from our belts, because they were concidered weapons, yet at a store about 100 yds down they were selling switch blades that were like 20" before the blade came flying out.......ok I had to think that one out.....my folding buck is a weapon, what is a 20 inch switch blade.....

One of the big differences between many English speaking countries is the way words mean different things in different countries, I think I have been to all the English speaking countries so I know the difference between sidewalks and pavements and grouse and grouse and most of the other differences..

Last week I discovered the biggest difference between America and Britain which you guys are not going to believe..

We both have charity shops, you may call them good will shops, these are places where you can donate stuff you don't need to be sold to help a charity..

Last week I decided to go to one of these shops to buy some old cutlery, knives, forks and spoons..now we have about ten of these shops near here so it should have been easy..None of the shops had any for sale..Finally I found out why..

Charity shops have been told not to sell cutlery because it could be used as weapons..and get this..they can't sell knitting needles for the same reason...

And you can buy guns, black powder and ammo at your local sports shop..

Are we so much more dangerous than you..

John.
