Sorry; 1500 as seen in my pic.  I like the antipollution equipment; doesn't smell like a Harley when I start and run it.

are we talking 800 or 1500
on my  800 I removed the baffle on the stock pipe i did get a POP or backfire on de-accleration
(also found no gaskets on the where the pipes meet the engine which was more likely the reason for the backfire)
I removed the pollution control stuff and adjusted the air/fuel mixture  and installed the gaskets which resolved the issues
hope this helps

What I meant is that stock exhausts and baffleless longshots are transparent to the engine's performance.  It adjusts automatically and I'm guessing that any will work with no changes needed except for the header gaskets.

Two different questions ...

The fuel injection system will handle most new exhausts and will handle gutting the oem mod.

Neither impact performance significantly... though mpg may be impacted.

Generally all it does is change the sound... most don't keep modified oem... and many are disappointed in the sound produced.

Glad you asked this question im looking for an answer myself.

so does that mean that your factory exhaust had the baffels removed, or are you just saying that it didn't make a difference with the empty longshots?

I drove mine 40,000 with stock exhaust, 10,000 with empty Longshots and then back to the stock exhausts and I'm hitting 79,000 this weekend with no loss in performance or any other noticeable changes except I don't get tickets for excessive noise anymore.

i saw a few posts, and videos about removing the baffles to increase the rumble, but i am still on the fence when it comes to the performance of the bike. some people say the fuel injection compensates for it. some people say it will hinder performance.

can we get some honest anwsers???? at this time i cannot afford to put a new exhaust on my bike, but i also cannot afford to ruin my bike either... please help!!!!!
