If you have access to a cabinet-type sandblasting cabinet,you could lightly sandblast the air filter covers; it will give them the matte look without removing the chrome. Use low pressure so as not to warp the covers.

Thanks for the kind words, I like the simple lines, and not too many accessories.

I do think it would look good with a matte finish intake to match the side covers and heads. (I like the matte finish).
