Ok here is jusy my two cents, i bought the 69.99 1500lb atv/MC jack they had in bright yellow and its done great the last 3 times i have used it on y 99 1500 drifter.

I have a different brand lift. Same issues. Your right, its the frame, or variou engine components that get in the way.  Making one specific for 800s is a good idea as it appears no one else is yet. There is money to be made. Once a jig is built, its just cutting stock to size,  welding, clean,  paint and ship.  You could do 10 at a time. I paid 50 for mine. Works on 1500 Drifters,classics and Nomads. I also have to run my tires up a small ramp to get my lift under my bike anyway. The Sears mdel is low profile and fits better.

I am working on when I can ..something I think would work and be safe too. I know a bunch of people with diffrent bikes who bought the same lift and it does not work on a lot of newer bikes, due to the face things now hang under the frame.....

Might be a good second income for you two. They guy I bought mine from on eBay had sold a few hundred. At $50 a piece, and $5 in materials. Might be a good wintertime project for you guys to make some extra riding money...

Ratman: on a serious note, if you mock one up out of wood, do a detailed shop drawing of it, send me the drawing, I will make you one, you pay shipping on it. Then, if it works out, post the shop drawing in the mods/tips section.Sound fair?

  ah but it does have the tabs......I have contacted about 4 places that claim to have adaptors for the Kawasaki Drifters...Vulcans....but when I specifiy the Vulcan Drifter 800 I get the oh sorry it will not work.
Chilli if I was able to weld and to have a shop to work in I would make a hockey sock full and sell them at enought to cover parts and shipping, but alas I have no shop nor meatal skills.....but I am going to make one for myself and then find someone to weld it for me.

but the oil pan and the monoshock are in the way,also the arms are a bit too short to reach across. I have one I got on ebay but this one appears to be built to higher standards than mine.  It is very nice to be able to jack the bike up strap it to the jack and move it around the garage as needed. Mine will spend a few months on there this winter. Worth the money. I cant imagine blocking the bike with scissor jacks....

As far as 800s.. RatMan, Id say if you made one for an 800, you could sell as many as you could make if there is a need for them. Not owning an 800, I dont know why it wouldnt work? Im guessing the 800 frame doesnt have the vertical tabs on the bottom of the frame they attach the adapter to.

I'm with 49 on this one. I have a jack similar to the one in the
pics and my bike doesn't sit well on it. This will make the jack useful

Those work real well with the motorcycle lifts such as sold by Harbor Freight. Being the cheap bugger that I am, I built my own, cost a little less than $20.00, but no powder coating, or fancy end caps. An excellent buy for for the money.
