Winter Storage

My winter storage plan is as follows:
* Clean bike
* Change the oil
* Clean and lube the chain
* Check antifreeze
* Fill tank with non ethanol gas (last few tanks of gas) and gas stabilizer
* Turn off fuel and run bike until it stops running
* Fog motor
* Top of fuel
* Remove battery (it gets to spend the winter indoors)
* Place bike on motorcycle jack in safe corner of the garage
* Cover bike (just to keep dust collection to minimum)
* Stare at it longingly every time leave and enter the garage

   I store mine on the side stand. Check to see the anti freeze is OK , fill the gas tank and add gas stabilizer. Then hook them up to a Shumacker smart charger. Close the garage door and hope for an early spring.

I don't "store" my bike at all.  The weather here allows for riding all year round.

On the other hand when I was active duty and left on a cruise (6-9 months) I just filled it with gas, un-hooked the battery, parked it in the corner and left.

I know we still have a few months of riding available in my neck of the woods but I though I would ask before it gets to be that time.  When I store my snowmobiles I always store them with the suspension unloaded.  Should I store my Drifter that same way?  I was thinking I could just put it on my motorcycle jack and raise it to the lowest lockable setting and strap it to the stand in the corner of the garage.  Any opinions on why I should or shouldn't do this?   This is the first year I am storing a motorcycle.
