I switched to an 80/100 bulb this spring too.  So far no issues and I ran my bike for almost 19 hours straight during my Iron Butt run.

Yeah, when I got my bike, two spotlights were tied into the same circuit as the headlight and he put a bigger fuse in.  There were some melty bits.

ok,,,,i'll check it out.

I would check the wiring on the socket on the back of the bulb. The headlight might be ok, but the extra current demand of the bulb might be enough to damage the socket, itself. If I were you, I would be running a headlight relay for this much current. The circuit and switches are not designed for this much load.

nope...no melting of any sort...been running that watt bulb for 2 years now...this was the first time any fuse issue at all....did not blow while riding...it was fine when i parked it after a ride...when i turned the key on and started it i noticed no headlight. thus when i found a blown fuse...i replaced the fuse and went on another ride....did not blow...as of yet.

so i should not be using that bright of a bulb ?....i must admit ...since using this type of bub...no one has pulled in front of me anymore...:)

If a 10 amp fuse blew, there is a reason. Running the high beam, which is just 5 watts more (55w-60w) did not do it. I hate to say it, but you will have to find the short circuit, or you will burn the 15 and risk damaging some wires at the same time.
