corbin seat woes

Thanks CDD.  I also just talked to Corbin - for $65 they can "shave" the front of the seat making it narrower.  If I don't get used to it, Maybe I'll send it in.  It is really comfortable, so I want to make it work.  I hate to get taller boots - I ride mine often to work, so I'm wearing my workboots then, and I'd like something that will fit well then.

I experienced the same feeling when I replaced my stock solo seat with a Corbin solo seat. The Corbin is much wider at the nose of the seat than the OEM seat.  I don't know if I have gotten used to it or the seat is breaking in to my body shape, but the Corbin is much more comfortable now than when I first got it. I also got a different pair of riding boots ( a little thicker sole and a little taller heel ) that made the wait at a stop light more comfortable. Hang in there.

Didn't hurt the holes a bit, just a little bigger.  But it's not for sale anyways.

sorry to hear about your problems, I was going to offer to purchase that seat off you until I read that you reamed out the holes.  I have an '06 so it would have probably fit mine just fine.  You might want to do a search on one of the kawasaki OEM parts warehouse sites, they usually have the diagrams of the OEM stuff and maybe that will give you an idea of where the saddle bag mounts go...not sure if that'll help you at all but it may be worth a shot.

DOES anyone have a CORBIN DUAL TOUR with SADDLE BAG MOUNTS?   Could you post a picture?  Any advice on what someone else has done would be helpful.

I just got my new (used) corbin 2-up touring seat, and have a few issues.  I can't figure out where to mount the saddle bag mounts.  My old mounts were custom-made, bolted on with the seat bolts, on the outside of the seat.  Worked great with the stock 1-up.  The corbin is made different, the mounting bolts are counter-sunk back in pretty deep.  I'm planning on having to make mounting brackets - but not sure where to put them.  I guess I'll have to build brackets with deep spacers to fit into the counter-sunk holes on the seat, and just use about 3" bolts.   There is what appears to be a mounting place underneath the seat for perhaps a luggage rack, but I'm not sure it would work for bags - but it might?

Not sure I'm liking the corbin.  First off it wouldnt' fit for crap.  Came off an '05 and mine is an '02 (both 800s of course), but I thought they shoudl be the same.   I had to ream out all the holes just to get it to *barely* go on there.  Took two of us to leverage the seat in place just to get the bolts in, even after hole reaming.  The bold holes just DON"T want to line up.  If I ever had to take it off away from my shop to jump start the bike, it's bad news.
Last proglem:  The seat is wider in the front, and now it's harder to reach the ground.  I'm 5'8 and the other fella was 6', so I don't know if I ordered one custom from Corbin, if they would make it to fit me better.  Perhaps.  Otherwise, I guess I'll just have to grow a little more...  sucks bein short.
