Yes it was.  I'm an avid hiker, camper, eagle scout etc. and you do not go near bears, period.  Doing quick Uies is way faster on my 250 Ninja than my Drifter!  Luckily I didn't have to.
As far as people getting involved with accidents, it's not too surprising; they don't want to go to court when the lawyers get started...
That's even scarier to most folk,

People!  Hell, yesterday a full sized Brown Bear walked out in front of me about 50' ahead, up in Conway, NH.  Talk about a power stop!  Then, U turn and run or what!  I'd never faced this but have heard that a good motto is, 'if you can see a bear, you're too close."
Luckily, a bunch of traffic coming in the other direction got his attention.  He waited for them to stop and then sauntered across the road and up into the woods.  I waited for the cubs (in case the gender was the other) and proceeded when none appeared.  He was better than most humans; he yielded for oncoming traffic, wasn't texting and really got my respect!!
Phew

Okay, I was able to get the signal back on by forcing the rubber boot back over the bolt via cutting out some of the rubber with a razor and forcing it back on.... I'm stoked!

Last night I made the mistake of riding around  a very busy downtown and as I was making a left hand turn, a car pulled out in front of me forcing me to jackknife and lay the bike down. I jumped over the handlebars and onto a curb. Thank the Lord I wasn't going fast and I was Ok. I still can't believe out of a sea of people  and vehicles watching, not one person tried to help me or asked if I was OK. And what I really can't believe is my bike is unscratched and was a cinch to pick back up ( I had recently watched how to pick a dropped bike in the mod/tips section... good stuff) maybe it was just my adrenaline? The only damage was the left hand rear signal popped off its arm and is just dangling by the wires. My question is, how do I connect the signal housing back onto that square head bolt that connects into the fender? There is a hard rubber boot just behind the signal lens that looks like you could just pop it back on to that bolt, but I can't seem to get it on even with Vaseline as lube. Anyone ever dealt with this?
