windshield advice

Yep those are the ones... I like them and they work. Likely that's why the former owner had them.

I asked the same question last season and got about the same response. I tried the windshield in different angles and heights without any luck. I found out that the position that you sit has something to do with it because I lowered the aftermarket spring seat I have and it is tolerable now. Plus I can flat foot at stop. I ordered a set of soft lowers but the vendor is having a hard time matching the guard.
Now he wants me to send an outline on poster board. They should help with the buffeting I will let you know.

Yeah - what he said.  Chief- are these the type of lowers you're talking about??   I took these off the bike when I bought it, b/c I didn't care for them.  Maybe I'll try putting them back on to see if it helps, although I really didn't like them all that well...

I'll try lowering the w/s again, and maybe pitching it forward.  Before it was all the way down, and pitched back.  Now it's up and forward.

On the drifter there is an updraft that causes some turbulence...

Positioning your windshield will help, but the only way to resolve this particular problem is with LOWERS... I built some, the plans are in the mods/tips on the website which worked very well. But I removed those and bought some harley chrome lowers and adapted them. They look better, but aren't as wide and don't work as well. But they work well enough.
The proper positioning of a windshield is about the tip of your nose, so you can just see over the top of the shield. BUT! there are a lot of people who choose to look THROUGH the shield... I really dislike that. It distorts my vision and its really, really difficult to see through it when its raining.
I have an electric windshield on my Goldwing, so I have tested at various heights. I still prefer near the lowest setting.
Anyway, lowers will likely resolve much of your problem with wind turbulence and helmet buffeting.

When sitting on the bike you be able to see over the windshield by a couple of inches.  the wind acts a little different between the solo and 2-up seats. I had a lot of turbulence when I had trim around the edge of the windshield. Took the edging off, a whole better now. I seen some difters with the shield trimmed down, Of I do ride a 1500, but I don't think that would matter.

on my 800 the air turbulence just seems like a lot (from the windshield).  It's a factory WS as far as I can tell.  This is my first bike, so I don't really know what to expect, but the wind turbulence seems to batter my helmet (and my head, in it) around a lot.  I raised the WS all the way up and it made it better (than most all the way down), but it's still bad at 60.  If I lean down behind the WS, it's a lot better.   I'm not a real tall guy (5'8), so I wouldn't think I'm "too tall" for the WS, but sitting in an upright position, I'm looking just barely above the WS.

I have a buddy who only rides with out a WS (Honda Shadow ACE), b/c he said he couldn't stand his wind turbulence.  Do I have to just live with it or can further adjustment make it more tolerable?  It seems like taking it off would just make a lot more wind turbulence but maybe I should think about taking it off?  I hate to lose my small WS bag on the bracket, as well.

Any advice would be appreciated.
