OK guys and gals,
I decided to take the plunge and be the guinea pig with the Dynatek 3000 CDI ignition. While trying to do as much research as I could, I came across a deal that was to good to pass up. More about this later.
When the Dynatek 3000 arrived, I read the instructions and decided on which advance curve and rev limit setting to use for my Drifter. I have the Road Burner long shot exhaust, a K&N air filter in the stock housing and the carb rejetted with a Dyno jet kit. All of that said, I selected the #4 advance curve and a rev limit of 8250 rpm.
The Dynatek 3000 is very simple to adjust to your settings and install. Less than 30 mins. at a leisurely pace. I also installed a pair of NGK CR7EIX iridium tipped spark plugs since I was upgrading my ignition system. Getting the spark plug out of the front cylinder head took some creative thinking. A pair of 3/8 wiggle joints and the plug socket did the trick. Easy access to the rear cylinder spark plug once the seat is removed.
I have not had a dyno test done nor have I run a 1/8 mile time prior to installing ,the Dynatek 3000 and NGK plugs, or after. I can tell you that by the seat of you pants and the wind in your face, the Dynatek 3000 and NGK plugs are a great performance addition to the free flow exhaust, K&N filter and jet kit. I think an educated guess put my 800 Drifter at 65 to 70 horsepower.
Just prior to this post I checked the JP Cycles web site where I bought my Dynatek 3000. They show to have 1 left in stock. The dynatek 3000 normally lists for $289.00 and JP Cycles has them clearance priced at $120.99 plus shipping of $12.99. Dynatek part # D3K2-1, JP Cycles item # ZZ38146. I just could'nt pass it up and I am real glad that I did'nt.
On sale or not I think you would be pleased with the results you will get by upgrading your ignition system. Sometimes being the guinea pig is a good thing.

Happy drifting,   CDD

Hello fellow drifters,
Has anyone installed the Dynatek 3000 CDI ignition on their 800 Drifter? I have installed a free flow exhaust, K&N air filter and rejetted the carb on my Drifter and am looking for more performance. Any info or experience with the Dynatek ignition will be appreciated.     Thanks,   CDD
