Annie,
So sorry about your loss. Its hard to lose a friend, let alone 2 in one day. I'm a believer that everything happens for a reason. Thank God your son wanted to go shopping.... you could of been that last bike out & made the worst birthday that little boy could of possibly had. Again, I'm sorry for your pain. Prayers are with you. Being a nurse Chief, I agree, rather go on outta this world doing what I love best as to lay in a bed lonely & sad in a nursing home.

I always tell my family if the worst happens just know I'd rather go that way than in a nursing home. A lot of folks don't understand that sentiment, but I think most bikers share it in some form or other.

I guess it is derived from the "die running or die fighting" sentiment I learned a long time ago.

Our prayers and condolences go out to those they left behind.

Upon arriving at work this morning I was hit with the saddening news about the loss of two co-riders in our local Goldwing Chapter. Even though I do not own a Goldwing I was welcomed into the local group with open arms, they even made me chapter secretary. Every Wed. night this group would hold a supper ride and we would choose a location and head out. Yesterday would be the same as always, only this time I did not go. Yesterday was my sons 15th birthday and he asked if I would take him to his favorite store. So instead of firing up the bike I stayed with my son. My understanding is, 6 bikes met at our normal meeting place, chose a place to eat and left for the ride. The bikes did not get a half a mile from the starting point when the last bike was hit head on. Another loss of two good people, caring leaders, cautious motorcycle riders who were needlessly taken from us due to the irresponsible actions of someone in a pickup truck. Please say a prayer for the family who have lost both their father and mother in one day. Our hearts go out to all who have lost a loved one while riding.
Be safe,
Sandra
