I live out in the uninhabited land between Edison and Iberia. The shop is in Claridon (about 5 miles east of Marion on 95).

I have never gone on the Brandy Winfield run. Riding in a big group isn't really my thing.

Boaski:  I only live about half hour or maybe 45 minutes from you...
Where you at in Claridon?  Maybe I can stop in sometime if I get through there during the day (I was just by there a couple weeks ago).

What kind of seat do you have now and where are u located greenbarn?  I got a corbin 2 up and want a solo.

Guard:  email me on the VDR email, if you would.  I'd like to see pics of your corbin seat.  I have the stock solo, but probably don't want to get rid of it right now, but I might be interested in buying your 2-up.

Boaski, you're only a half hour from Upper?  I live due south of upper, less than an hour.  Will you be going on the Brandy Winfield memorial poker run in June?  (Brandy was a Marion Co. deputy killed in the line of duty in 04)  I believe Thiels is one of the stops on the run.   I'm tentatively planning to go - you should go, and we can meet up.

I took a ride up to Thiels Wheels in upper yesterday. Only a half hour or so ride but my backside wasn't liking it.

this is just the kind of thing that keeps people like Corbin in business...I have the solo seat for my 1500, and it was ok, but not the best. I fiddled with it for a while, shimming it in the rear to raise the angle by 1" and adding some gel to the middle, and it was good for 2 seasons, and I am keeping it, but I got a stock  buddy seat from La Douce, and it's love at first sit...The angle is right, the firmness is good, and the position is excellent...everybody is different, and as far as I'm concerned, I have found the "perfect" combination...but your butt may not like it.....

Since I already have a Mustang solo seat my plan is to find a matching Mustang passenger pad. The compound curves of the factory mounting system might prove challenging, but I'm sure we can figure something out.

I took a ride up to Thiels Wheels in upper yesterday. Only a half hour or so ride but my backside wasn't liking it. The stock 2 up seat just doesn't seem to have a good shape to it. On the other hand I took my wife for a short ride yesterday & she liked the passenger portion of the seat better than the one on the Honda ACE I used to have.

That sounds like a great idea.  So you'd use the harley solo seat, and fab a easy on/off luggage rack and passenger seat?  That would be the best of all worlds!  The solo seat looks better than the 2-ups, anyway, IMHO.

I got an idea - why don't you design this thing, and fab it up next week, and send me some drawings and pics and step-by-step instructions... ;D

Seriously, though, that's a good idea - I agree with using the stock seat mounting bolt locations.  I guess I could look at doing something like what you said, using the factory solo seat.   Got any ideas on what to use for the quick-on/off passenger seat???

The bike I bought already had a Mustang seat for a Harley on it. The previous owners thread is: http://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/forum/index.php?topic=11832.0

The seat looks good on there, but I don't like the way it had to be mounted in order for it to fit. I made some nicer brackets for it, but I still think a few more things need done. For the time being I stuck the factory 2 up seat back on with a Mustang cover.

My goal is to make up some brackets to mount the solo seat using the 4 factory bolt locations. I would like to design the thing so there will be a removable rack that can be quickly replaced with a passenger seat.

I'm a machinist & have access to the shop, so stuff can be made. If you come across any interesting pictures of something like I just talked about please let me know.

I want to put a corbin 2-up on, but don't want to spend the money on a new one.  I've looked on ebay for an entire 2 weeks and haven't seen any come up for bid.  Incidently, the wife tells me I should grow some patience - I  have tried a couple times but got tired of waiting...  ;D...   SO, cheap impatient me is looking for a seat that I can make fit on the 800.

Who can tell me which models of seats may be easier to make it fit than others?  I see a lot of seats for sale - yahama road star --hd softtail-- Valkyrie --polaris victory--

I know some of you have put on custom-fit seats with home-made brackets, by the looks of some of the pics.  If you have, can you tell me if yours was a decent project, or real hard-wish you had never seen it???  I have torch, welder, vice, etc, and build stuff regularly.

I don't mind designing and building something, but I don't necessarly want it to be extremely hard either, so thought maybe I could get some feedback.

Even generalities would be helpful, as my bike knowledge is limited.  For example:  "all the ____ models are the same"   "stay away from anything_____", etc.
THX.
