I just put a new Corbin double seat on my bike. It looks great but it's a lot harder than the the stock solo seat!  Also a little wider between the thighs.  The stock seat is definately more comfortable but.... I love the look of the Corbin seat. It has the saddle skirt , chrome studs and long fringe hanging from the passenger seat. Cooool!  Does anyone have the backrest?  Is it comfortable?

Corbins are firm seats. I think they are much more comfortable on the long haul than the stock seat... but that's my opinion.

We have the backrest... I use it on the passenger seat. definitely comfortable. I made one for the driver seat.

Cheers.

Whenever I sit on another cruiser I'm amazed how firm the seat foam is.  I stick with stock and enjoy looong rides on my Caddie.

Everyone has an opinion. They sell all sorts of "monkey butt" stuff nowadays because the saddles are too soft and you burn your buns after a while. I've never suffered from that affliction...

I also always figured there was a reason western saddles are "firm" and not soft and cushy... <g>

Ha!  "Monkey butt" I like that!   You're right!  I did burn my butt on the soft factory seat.  Im skinney and dont have a lot of natural beer induced padding on my Ischialls bottomuss.  But I don't get that burn on my backside like I did with the soft seat.  I also rode horse in the rocky mountains for many years and you don't get that burn on a saddle either. A saddle is hard when you first get it but it breaks in and your butt breaks in also , then you get a comfy ride.  Thanks! I never thought of it that way!  and I've only rode it twice because we got 3' feet of snow,, ya thats 36"!!  I tried to find studded snow tires for the bike but they seem to be hard to come by.  LOL!

<LOL> - you need track treads, not snow tires!

I put the cobin 2 up on my drifter at about 20k miles. Took it off at 60k miles. Worst seat I've ever had my narrow ass in.

As I said... everyone has an opinion...

I've had corbins on my bikes for a lot of years. They are firm and they don't get soft. I had to buy one for my Goldwing. The oem seat burnt my butt pretty quick... plus I like the control you get with a firm seat. I can ride forever on them.

My 78 Lowrider's oem seat was great, I never changed it out.  The worst seat I ever had was a king/queen that was too soft and fell apart after 3 months. I've NEVER had a problem with a Corbin.

So, don't get a corbin if you want a soft seat... its not and it will never be... it is a top quality seat, however, and I will always own a corbin over any other brand.

cheers.

I had the same issue with the corbin being a bit to square making the reach to the ground kind of a reach. Corbin can do a "Nose Job" on this seat to help compensate for us short guys. Other than that I like the feel of the seat so far

I have Corbin seats on my 1500 Drifter and both of my Victory motorcycles. Personnally would not have anything else. I have lots of mile on all three and can ride all day. Corbin web site has a good explaination on reason the use firm foam.

I have noticed a couple pictures of drifters that have the original seat on there with the rear seat attached separately and a backrest...can anybody help me out with what kind of seat and backrest that might be?

Don't think so... There is a mod using a mustang seat. Have a look over in the mods on the website

You can ffind info here on the direct bolt-up's available for the Drifter: http://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/drifterseats.html

The 800 seats and the 1500 seats are not interchangable BTW.

You can also find some different mods that have beeen done to seats here: http://www.saftek.com/drifter/reviewpost/showcat.php/cat/52

Lastly, you can try these two places for used seats to buy:

Aclone, would you be so kind as to post some pics of your springer seat when you're done?? Very very interested in doing something similar. Also, what kind of pipes are those?? I'm thinking I want to dual mine. I'm also in need of a plain ol stock dual seat or something similar thats used and not too expensive, doesn't have to be perfect, will probably rarely use it. If anybody has one or knows of one lemme know, I've been keeping an eye on classifieds too. Thanks a bunch!!

The pipe are vance and hines dual baggers and you have to make one bracket and mod the other if you don't have hard bags. About $ 380.00 with shipping on e bay. The link is for the thread on the delphi forum " springering the drifter" it  has Daves bike and mine with pics.  I road 100 mile on this weekend and hated it . Like the springer but the seat shape was to round (numb butt)  I'm going to move it to the back and make a pan that is very close to the mustang I took off, but still sprung.

Look under customization !!!!
Or you can scroll down to springer seat on this forum
