I did a quick video...so the still pic is good, but watch the action shots! The first time through (we did it twice, back to back) for some reason one of the video sections either didn't record, or I missed transferring it from the camera, but on the way back, I got it all. The video I'm posting is 6:37 long. The actual ride from in to out is closer to 15 minutes, since it's 11 miles and mostly the speed is around 40 or so. It's all done in 3rd gear, and down to second for the hairpins....Yes, that's a water drop on the lens...must have fallen from one of the trees...eventually blew off. The resort store has an incredible amount of souvenir stuff for sale, all centered around the ride. I bought 2 license plate frames, one for each bike...For those of you into scenery...the last picture is the view outside my room.    Here it is...about half the Dragon!

I made it home at 4:15 today. Bike ran flawlessly for 2565 miles!

That's good news Troll...you should be proud. That is good ridin' for an old man.   ;)

Troll

There are three web sites that took pictures of us on our little Dragon trip. The day was Friday the 19th, the time was about 1 pm...should put you in the ball park....Two of the sites list them as Cruisers and dressers, one of them goes by the time

Of course, they want to sell them to you...the prices aren't THAT bad....Hmmmmm
There WERE 20 Drifters for the group photo, but there were 26 there for the rally. some people had to leave before the photo session...

Awesome first Drift In for Tom and  I!  Despite some mechanical issues, I made the best of it and had a wonderful time, met lots of great people and can't wait to see you all again!  Terri and John, David and Sandy, Terry and Suzie and sooo many more of you - you are all wonderful.

It was nice to be with a group that is REALLY accepting of everyone - some of the group did all of the group rides, some did some of the group rides and other times went off on their own way, and some really didn't get out and ride with any of us much until the last day (picture day) - some of us like to ride "balls out" and see how fast we can take the curves, others of us (like me) prefer to just take it easy and actually see the terrain (I may not make it back again - why miss it?) - and none of it mattered - we all ended up back at the pound having a great time by nights end!  It IS, for most of us, the only vacation we get!  I only regret that there was not another group photo done at the bike show - per the itinerary...would have been nice to have everyone in one pic - but that's how the ball bounces and probably everyone wasn't there either.  I haven't looked at my pics yet and my camera went dead in the middle of dinner on Saturday night - boo.

Oh - and before I forget:  A huge THANK YOU to all of you that worked so hard to try to get me back to 100% - you all know who you are! - Randy, John, Jo Bear, Troll, Danny, Mac.... (if I missed anyone I am sorry) - it was better and I was able to continue to ride Friday and Saturday and we will get those bearings replaced this week!  I guess I got my workout for the weekend, lol!  (And I apologize again for holding everyone up on Thursday!)

Chief - don't know if you need any help or not for Maggie Valley, but I may have some connections that could benefit us...let me know if you need me.

Hope everyone made it home safe and sound.  Can anyone tell me how to access the drift in pics on the drift in website?

Nice pictures.I counted 20 Drifter on the pictures. Unfortunetely I will never be able to attend such a meeting...Too many thousands miles distance... :-[

Troll

They didn't have a date set just a location. The host will be Chief, the owner of the tribute bike. Apparently we have 2 Chiefs to take care of this tribe of Indians

Sounds like a great time.  So who were the winner's owners? I didn't recognize them.

How was the Dragon?  I was wanting to ride on that....

Looking forward hopefully to next year, looks to be about an hour closer to me.  Got a date?

Ratman, stop and  pick me up on your way by!

No Worries

Troll

Ya Hoo! Twisty roads, beautiful scenery...and next year, it's going to be in Maggie Valley...that's almost a hundred miles closer to me!  Ratman, start saving your crowns, shekels, pounds, or what ever for the trip!
I'm not home yet...made about 500 miles today. More thunder storms going across Kentucky slowed me down a bit.  Here's a picture of DK and Bikermom..without a mirror across her face....and an 800 sidecar rig!
The group picture only has 20 bikes in it..there were actually 26, but some people left before the ride, and the guy with the side hack has 2, he brought his 1500 on Friday for the ride to the Dragon..

Really enjoyed my first Drift-In. Met some great folks, seen some awesome Drifters, enjoyed the beautiful tourist town of Helen, Ga and the beautiful country of N.C. and Ga. Rode through some cool little towns and met some of the nicest people on my rides. Got soaked on the way back going across a mountain in N.C. ...that was cool.  ;D

Already lookin' forward to next years Drift-In............
Hope everyone made it home OK?

Here is a pic of the bike show winner in the 1500 class. A veteran's tribute Drifter.

I have chaps and use them up here in the cool weather on long rides or damp mornings. But on a nice warm day and dry outside then I do not wear them.

BamaBikerMom

I personally do not like to wear chaps. As far as all Harley riders wearing them I think it is because Harley says u need to..... to be cool...... I dunno :o

CDNRatMan

;) He was hiding your true beauty from the rest of us so we could not see it.

I have noticed one thing right off in the pictures. I have been to 2 Ride For Dad's this year and the Biker Reunion in New Liskeard, noticed that all them Drifter Riders and not one pair of chaps, yet at the rides and reunion all the Harley riders were leather encased in chaps and vest and jackets no matter the temps. or the weather. Wonder why?

Well you could have told me that the mirror was in my face Troll.......... LOL
;D

Troll

Couple of pictures of names you know, with their bikes...and to answer somebody's question......AND, before you ask, I have about 7 hours of video to go through...so don't expect movies for a while!

perhaps with al them boys in 0hi0 they could get one organized? I would attend in 0hi0 even getting a passport for that event.

That's pretty cool, Troll.  Wish I was there.

The Dragon was the one thing I really wanted to do.

Did anybody ever get a count of Drifter riders for the weekend?  Got any names to go with those faces??

Inquiring minds want to know....

Has next year's location been set yet??

No Worries

Troll

Friday was a little field trip to the Dragon. Not everybody went, but those who did felt it was the most fun you could have with a motorcycle and your clothes on. One thing I'll bet would be hard for most people to realize..there are no straight roads around here. Typically, if you follow 2 seconds behind another rider, they have disappeared around the next bend....The last picture is called the tree of shame...no Drifter parts there!
On the way there, we literally rode into a rain cloud at the top of the Cherohala Skyway

Do we have a count on how many people/bikes are there?
